Copper vs. Plastic Plumbing

In your home’s plumbing system, there are two types of pipes:

  • Water distribution system, which is potable drinking water
  • The drainage system, which is your drains.

Both of these types of systems could be made out of materials such as copper, plastic, brass, etc.

Is there a reason why I should use copper over plastic pipes in my plumbing?

In today’s world, we mostly use PVC pipes for both types of piping systems. One of the only real uses for copper pipes anymore is in commercial settings for noise reduction.

The longevity of both copper and plastic are comparable, and with plastic being much easier to work with and its affordability, plastic is almost always the way to go. However, choosing the right system just depends really on cost and what you’re trying to do, so talk with a professional today!
